When I first came online, I wrote a short tale about Knucklehead Fred. While still far off, Jesus could see Fred in every crowd, for he’d quietly work his way to the front of the shoreline and stare until Jesus waved. Fred almost convinced himself the wave was not in particular — surely by then, all the children and women would be pointing and waving. Long before the boat was hauled ashore, Fred would’ve disappeared from the area. This time, Jesus had pointed him out to Peter while they were still a ways off from shore. “I’m waving at Fred.” Peter looked out over the crowd and said, “Uh, which one is he, Master?” Jesus replied, “You’ll never know. He takes off before we land. But he has been our faithful greeter all this time –every time.” Peter was used to odd people, yet this was Jesus.. who would scamper off from Him? “Is he afraid of us?” he asked the Lord. “No. It’s just that he knows others need Me more..” Peter thought about it.. “So, he’s alright?” Jesus replied that he most certainly was not. Peter was stumped, now, “Well, what do we do? You never force Yourself on anyone, we’ve seen that dozens of times, now. Should we ourselves go and look for him?” Jesus turned around. He met and held John’s eyes as He replied to Peter, “You will pray for him, won’t you?”

Hi Cathy and Carol – so sorry – I had to take some time away from the computer for busy, busy family/work schedules. I’m happy that anyone who may have clicked on this site while I was away had Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament to contemplate. Carol, I love your story and imagery. Yes, He knows us well, He always sees us, He recognizes us, knows what each one of us needs, and inspires others to pray for us as we pray in turn for them. And to know that He is always with us, as He was with the disciples! – in the Eucharist, in the Blessed Sacrament, in person, online, in spiritual communions – always drawing us to Him.
