NOEL NOUVELET
(Traditional French)

1
Noël nouvelet, Noël chantons ici.
Dévotes gens disons à Dieu merci.
Chantons Noël, pour le roi nouvelet
Noël nouvelet, Noël chantons ici.

2

8
Quarante jours la nourrice attendit
Entre les bras de Siméon le rendit,
Deux tourterelles dedans un paneret.
Noël nouvelet, Noël chantons ici.

9
Un prêtre vint dont je fus ébloui,
Qui les paroles hautement entendit,
Qui les mussa dans un petit livret.
Noël nouvelet, Noël chantons ici.

10
Et si me dit: Berger, crois-tu ceci ?
Si tu y crois au Ciel seras ravi,
Si tu n’y crois, va d’enfer au gibet.
Noël nouvelet, Noël chantons ici.

11
Voici mon Dieu, mon sauveur Jésus-Christ,
Voici celui qui gloire au peuple met.
Noël nouvelet, Noël chantons ici.

12

Ah, I made it just before midnight. Thanks, Carol – I hope you and your family had a lovely Christmas. I’m pooped; imagine you are too. Two people sick for Christmas dinner, but not because of my cooking!!! (Flu, etc.) We’re dropping like flies.

Oh dear :-( I’m sorry to hear that. I hope you’ll (all) be feeling better almost immediately. Daughter and granddaughter had a 24-hr version of it — we’ll keep our fingers crossed it’ll be the same version for your household. As pretty (and necessary) is snow (ice, power outages, cold coffee, seeing one’s breath in the front room, tho’ not today–I brushed!), I pretty much could live with never seeing winter again. Yes, even the cat is pooped. Long bafflingly multi-hued day; not as much of His Nativity as it was of so much else, but He came anyhow. Quietly. Hiddenly. Like a Poor Boy. Like all poor boys.
:-) Take care.. get some rest. Have some merlot, medicinally of course.

Your’e getting better at it, I see, Gab. We had a wonderful Christmas and St. Steven’s day; we’re pooped but nobody is sick. Yet…

Maybe it’s our Montepulciano d’Abruzzo wine. We now have a beautiful label for it, and we’ve given it a name: “Vigna (pron. vinia) Pia”..it means, you guessed it, “Pia’s vineyard”. It’s been called “nectar of the Gods” by a couple of those who have tasted it…

Everyone’s on the mend, Carol; thanks. It’s not even January; we’d better get our immune systems up a few notches…Merlot, or perhaps soon, Vigna Pia…congratulations Pia…will you post a picture of a bottle so we can all see the beautiful new label please?
