The Secret Place

Where will today find you?

You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,
Say to the Lord, “My refuge and fortress,
my God in whom I trust.”

[Taken from Psalm 91]

What a wonderful reminder of all the reasons that He is so very worthy of our praise, gratitude and love! I just love those words of Scripture:
“my refuge and fortress, my God in whom I trust”….what incredible & genuine comfort that brings during the inevitable storms of life.

(I just sent you a video, to “return the favor”, for sharing this one with me! Let me know what you think…) :)

I pray that each person who reads your blog - and watches this video - is blessed by the message of faith, hope & grace that is contained therein. And, God bless you, dear one, for sharing it with all of us. Today’s daily scripture, from your sidebar: “Be still and know that I am God…” (the Most High…the Almighty)!!

Today finds me an observer aboard the Pequod, tho’ not Ishmael, looking both up into and down into a great blue –and realizing anew that whatever in Creation appears as blue to us, was perhaps Personally intended for a very holy reason.

Carol: those are some very eloquent, lovely & poetic words….pray tell, do you write poetry (yes, this is a serious question)?

    Cathy Keller Says:

Really lovely. When in adoration yesterday I realized that space, so holy, should not be a “secret.” Yet it seems to be, because in the chapel there was only me and my Lord. Good day to you!! Cathy

Kristin, thank you; I’m just waiting for a little “downtime” to watch/listen to the video(s) you sent (working hard at the office, plus family here from France for a week). And yes, Carol writes beautiful poetry (I haven’t told her this, but I’ve printed off tons of her poems from the thousands of blogs she’s opened and closed, so I can pretty much get a book published for her without her knowing it). ;)

Carol, and did you have the feeling you were being Observed?

Cathy, I hope this doesn’t sound selfish, but I am eternally grateful when I find the chapel empty. I think sometimes the good Lord arranges it that way for us.

    Carol Says:

Aw, Kristin, no– I can only write eloquent comments (and that’s only when a) Jupiter aligns with Mars, and/or b) I can’t think of anything to fuss about), but thank you. :-)
G, no. I usually end up covering my eyes before long (so no one can see me). But I’m with ya on that being thrilled to find the chapel empty of folks sometimes. I’ve thought it could only mean I’m not a very nice person–but if you’re grateful for it, too, then that can’t be the reason.

    Gabrielle:
So….my observation was correct! how neat! do you think that Carol would mind (terribly) your sharing some of her poetry with me? (I used to write….a long time ago now…..but haven’t put pen to paper that way in a few yrs. Maybe it’s time to start opening my heart to that possibility again).
Carol - your comments, alone, seem to indicate just the opposite…that you ARE “a very nice person”! He may often arrange the quiet stillness for us BECAUSE of our gratitude (which is pleasing to Him, like a sweet smelling aroma).

    Gabrielle Says:

Oh, I don’t think she would mind, but if she reads this she can let us know herself! But I would have to ferret out where I’ve squirreled it away. In fact, with her permission, I would post one here from time to time!

    Carol Says:

Oh yes she would mind! Thank you, girls, but my talent begins and ends with Aquarium Whisperer. It’s neither lucrative nor clamored for, but it keeps me out barrooms (but go figure! –not even one of those many black mollies ever turned out to be a true Irishfish; I feel I’ve been monumentally duped).

Indeed, Kristin, He appreciates appreciation. And indeed, you should put pen to paper again, as should everyone else who comments here. Poetry speaks heart to heart. Hey, a collaborative Contemplative Haven Anthology.. hmm..

    HMMMMmmmm…..

    Wouldn’t that be absolutely wonderful.

You know, there’s no point bringing home any mollies unless you’ve first got it in writing that their last name is Malone. Watch out now; I’m bursting into song.

:-) We had to sing that once a week, every week, all through 6th grade. Well, that along with the Marines’ Hymn, Happy Wanderer, Star Spangled Banner and all the grand ol’ America songs.. There we were, young female forms delicately approaching womanhood, now suddenly forced to belt out “valdereeee, valderAH-HAHAHAHAHA..” *sigh.. Maybe that’s my problem. The boys all favored the beefy hairy stuff, but we girls preferred the poignant “Molly.” (And it’s other folks’ aquariums I whisper — we tried having one; our fish got yuck and ew as well as ick, we developed new plant life that startled Jacques Cousteau, and our electric company mistook us for people who were filtering the Seine.)

And yes, that would be absolutely wonderful. :-)

    Gabrielle Says:

We too were forced into the Valdereeee, Valderaaaah, and expected to sing it with ooomph and much vitality, but I think that is only possible with fresh mountain air and good cheese.

    ROFL!
