Father Thomas Dubay Contemplation Podcast

Father Thomas Dubay, author of, “Fire Within”, as well as many other wonderful works such as, “Deep Conversion, Deep Prayer”, currently has a 13-part podcast on contemplation available for downloading or listening.  You will only be able to access it for a limited number of days, so please don’t wait too long.

I cannot say enough about this holy priest.  Some of you may remember that I quoted him often last year, as we went mansion by mansion through St. Teresa of Avila’s, “Interior Castle”.   He is one of our finest interpreters of both Teresa and St. John of the Cross, and his mission in life appears to be to bring the knowledge of contemplation and contemplative prayer to the masses - to help us understand that deep prayer, contemplative prayer, is meant for everyone, that holiness is what we were born for, that union with the Divine is a very real possibility for all of us, including the Transforming Union.

I would really encourage you to take advantage of this series Father Dubay is providing.  You can get all the details concerning where to find it over at Catholic iPod.  Hurry!

I just did last evening! Can’t wait to start listening. I still quite haven’t got the hang of it all yet, though. I believe I downloaded pretty much the whole EWTN website by mistake. :)

If you use the “Click to subscribe to all feeds” XML you will subscribe to all their regular podcasts as well as the Special Monthly Podcast. You can use the XML feed beside each individual regular podcast if you don’t want to subscribe to ALL of their regular podcasts. As far as I can tell there is no way to subscribe to only the special Monthly podcast without getting all the others, but you can download only the mp3s individually.

TY from me, too, Gab.. This promises to be so beautiful. I don’t have an iPod or any MP3 player, unless there’s one built in on this computer? But I’ll listen as much as I can, one way or another.

Karen, thanks for your help! And also for your great site! So far I’ve only been listening to “Meditations from Carmel” and “Pray As You Go” podcasts on a regular basis (I also like “That Catholic Show”). There’s way too much to choose from!

JustMe, if you can’t even save them to your hard drive (why don’t you google “itunes” and download the free program - then I think you should be able to save whatever you want to your hard drive and listen to it whenever you’re able - you don’t have to own an iPod). If it doesn’t work, just let me know and after I get back from vacation I’ll put the series on a CD for you). I hope I can manage at least that much. :)

Hi Paula - you’re welcome, and thank you too!

OH! I will definitely download this.
You know, Fr. Dubay clothed me in my Carmelite scapular! By “chance,” he was giving a retreat to the nuns of the monastery where our secular order meets, and he was the priest that presided that day. I felt very blessed.

kt, I remember the picture you had on your old blog of this ceremony, and you said you would tell us more about the story behind it (i.e., how it all came about) but I guess we all got distracted! So I’m glad to hear a little bit more about it now. What an amazing memory for you, and I can well understand why you felt blessed. I think it’s just wonderful that Fr. Dubay can not only find the time to write, but that he can give retreats and also spiritual direction (and now, podcasts)!
