Interlude

Published by gabrielle at 12:44 am under Icons, Mother Teresa, Prayer

Living icons.  We know it is possible.  We’ve witnessed it.  We must search our hearts to discover what is hindering us.  What is holding us back?

Prayer to Jesus

by Mother Teresa, read by Bill Simpson on the CD entitled, “Quotations and Affirmations that Sustain, Inspire and Empower”.

Deep sigh … very special, this really says it all, doesn’t it.

Hello, Driftwood and Lucy. I hope you are both having a good weekend so far.

I like Mother Teresa’s phrase, “the catching-force”; “the sympathetic influence of what I do – the evident fullness of the love my heart bears to You.” She was such a fine example of a “living” Icon, and she gave all the glory for the light, the shining, the radiance, back to the Creator.

Oh my, let’s hope it’s only the humidity, but I just spent an inordinate amount of time looking for the word “Comment” so I could *ahem* leave a reply.

:-) this is beautiful, and beautifully read. And how thankful am we for this. Oh, someday, someday, not only we to be icons, but panes of glass thru which others may clearly and undoubtedly see His heart at work.

Well now, you’d have to be speaking Swahili for us not to know who you are. Get some glasses, my good woman. And I don’t mean wine glasses. :) Well, those too. A good Bordeaux goes well with humidity, I always find. In the garden, in the evening, as you fight off the mosquitoes. Les moustiques. Not to be confused with les mystiques. Those, we like.

    Aye, we do.

I’m wondering today why on earth it would require great guts to place one’s self in Mary’s hands? What’s that all about?

I’d be embarassed to tell you how long it took me to begin to pray the Rosary, and I’d be even more embarassed to tell you, yes, even you who exonerate me from being useless, how often I still fail to try my best to pray.

Oops.. I meant to post that under the OLPH icon post!

Off to work, now– may God protect our residents, lol.

I have shared this recording with some close friends, and wanted to say “thankyou” for sharing it with me (us)….what a wonderful way to share our faith, over all these miles…from friend to friend….like ripples in a pond….only THIS “pond” is world-wide. Spirit, Faith, Hope, Grace, Mercy and Love are not inhibited by something like space and time. :)

P.S. FYI: Headed to the corner post office b4 the end of this week. :)

‘ So to shine, to be a light to others..’ That’s our mandate…but keeping it in mind is the hard part, especially when faced with the very things that would plunge us into darkness were it not for Him and his love. Thanks, Gabrielle, for the reminder. tomorrow I will try to shine all the live long day.

I can’t select a single line – it’s all so well … so much so that I came back for another helping! :-)

CO, I don’t know about it taking “great guts” to place oneself in Mary’s hands; maybe it hasn’t hit me yet. I do know, speaking only for myself, that I never fully realized, or possibly didn’t accept (or wish to accept?) how much Jesus desires this.

Kristin, you are a “sharer”, par excellence; I’m glad you enjoyed the little recording. And thanks for going to all that trouble for me – I know you are busy enough, so it is really appreciated!

Driftwood, enjoy! Have a third helping on me! Heck, we can have it for all six courses, with a little time for digestion in between. :) (at the rate I’m posting, we may have to have it for dessert as well).

Ann, you’re always so honest, and you go right to the heart of things. No, it’s not easy, and one has to wonder, since He is really alive in us, why we have this ongoing difficulty in reflecting and revealing Him. I’m glad we have Our Lady of Perpetual Help for this perpetual struggle.
