Retreat Links
I hope you enjoyed the little retreat. I’d like to give you the links to the actual sites that I used, just in case the ones in the posts didn’t work for you. Also, the portions that I used were just a small part of the wonderful material available to you at these sites. So here they are:
All the music came from: Soaking.net
Fr. Richard Clancy’s talks can be found at: Oblates of Divine Mercy
Fr. Larry Gillick’s talks can be found at: Creighton University Audio Retreats
And visit WorldPriest.com for daily contemplative retreats, lectio divina, liturgy of the hours, and much more.
Last but certainly not least, here is a little surprise I came across last night in my travels. I’ve been waiting most of my life to hear his voice, and maybe you have too. So here is Thomas Merton, giving a little talk on discernment to his novices, which can be found here, at The Merton Institute for Contemplative Living.
You even found and gave us his voice? His voice?? Oh :’-) what the heck are you, some kind of wonderful?
I’m heading out to serve 32 dying folks right now, 34 if you count me and the nurse, and they’ll be blessed by this today, TOO.
:’-) criminy, I just put on all my makeup…
Thank you, Girl.
April 14th, 2007 at 1:21 pmIt’s “some kind of wonderful” that they have you coming in to be with them, and that you are blessed with a gift for this work.
April 14th, 2007 at 2:29 pmI am always embarrassed when the job pays me, because everything of it except my elbow grease and miniscule goodwill, is attributable to example (holy unspoken commandment) of suffering/caring mother, grandmother, uncle, as well as to a too-tiny but exquisite exposure to religious Sisters, to an astounding priest or brother here and there, and especially to Miriam-Esther of the Holocaust kids who broke my heart with her charism of defiance against the Nazis to break her spirit. Others’ spiritual gifts to me are as expansive and thrilling and practical as was husband’s gift of magnificent Chrysler. Contemplatives are my soul’s Chrysler with all the leather, bells & whistles. I don’t deserve it for a moment, nor do I deserve to serve anyone, but God has the most immense Mercy on us all. The elderly salve me far more than I, them. And that’s a violinishly long way of saying, “You must’ve had a suffering/caring mom, grandmother, and uncle too. I’m overwhelmed. Imagine, someone has let me hear Merton’s own voice. Dangit, I’m glad you can’t see me right now. God bless you, and all who are similarly overwhelmed and/or similarly giving.
April 15th, 2007 at 6:15 amYou do a good work, Carol!
Gabriel, I am grat4ful for your posts. However,my computer is configured wrong, and I don’t know how to fix it to get your audio links to load properly.
April 15th, 2007 at 11:48 amI sat here for almost 20 minutes, knitting in hand, waiting for this talk, and all that loaded in those 20 minutes was “Welcome to this morning’s talk”. LOL!
Some load right away. ???!!!???
Carol, yes, I’ve been blessed with many Christ-centred, faithful men and women in my life. It’s time to give back a little.
Teresa, I’m really sorry it doesn’t work for you. There’s nothing worse than going to a retreat and the Retreat Master doesn’t show up, or has laryngitis. I don’t know what to tell you…
