April 11th, 2007 at 5:28 pmWe are praying for her continued life, I hope. We all, because we know that she goes to an ineffably greater Good, may not be pleading for her healing. We are winged and winded by all the crappy parts of life, the utter exhaustion of it all, and we know this life has indeed been only a preparation for our life to come as prayed come hell or high water in our Credo. And there doesn’t seem a whole lot of good news in our midst, and death seems more a victorious stalker than ever. But as far as I know, she is still alive, and that means she is every bit as alive as we are, and that her life is still her most precious gift from Him to her. The loss of life is not only sad to those left behind. The one dying knows what she is losing.
She will hear it– she will hear the Master’s “Talitha, cumi!” either There or here, but until she gives that no-looking-back nod to Him, I go on asking that she will hear it here, I ask for her physical healing. He granted it once and she remained for two or more years, and became a wondrous iconographer of His. I accept His timing for the command to arise, but Laura, do not go gentle into even that ineffably Good night unless you want nothing more than to do exactly that.
