Simon of Cyrene Helps Jesus Carry His Cross

“The Holy Spirit, who is totally devoted to the work of the Incarnation of the Son and his task on earth, to whom the Father and the Son had entrusted the hour of the birth and so the task of overshadowing and who keeps to the hour fixed by the Father for the Son’s death: this Holy Spirit takes care that the Son does not die from exhaustion before his time but receives the necessary assistance to help him reach the Father’s hour, which is also the Son’s. In reading this post today, I pray for more awareness as to the promptings of the Holy Spirit; what is He asking me to do to help carry the Cross of my Lord in helping to carry that of my neighbor?? And am I being faithful to take up my cross and follow Jesus each day?

You’re welcome, teresa. This passage intrigued me, because I don’t think I’ve ever heard the Holy Spirit mentioned regarding the Stations of the Cross before. I also found it very interesting about the Holy Spirit being entrusted with the hour of Jesus’ birth, and making sure He arrives at the appointed hour of death. Much to reflect on there.

Yes..St Elizabeth of the Trinity has started me thinking of the work of the Three -in -One..’ All working together. I have not had that focus before, although, of course I believe as the Creed states..I am becoming more aware now and find myself addressing the Holy Spirit more in my life these days.
