Jesus Meets His Afflicted Mother

Words spoken by Jesus to Sister Josefa Menendez during Lent of 1923:

“Come a little further with Me.  There you will see My blessed Mother, whose heart is pierced with grief.

Consider the martyrdom of these two hearts. What does this Mother love more than her Son? And far from being able to help Him, she knows that the sight of her anguish increases His.

And I, what do I love more than My Mother? Not only can I offer her no comfort, but I know that the terrible plight in which she sees Me pierces her heart with a sorrow like My own; for if I suffer death in the body, she suffers death in her heart.

See those eyes fixed on Mine, as Mine dulled and blinded with blood are fixed on hers! No word is spoken, but what a world of intercourse our two hearts exchange in one heart-rending glance.”

So glad I found you again. I prefer this site because of it’s clean lines and ordered look :-)

Just wanted to stop by and wish you a much blessed Holy Week and Easter, I won’t be around from Saturday as I’m going away for a week or two and wasn’t sure I’d get back over here before I get home.

    God Bless you and yours

Hi ukok! I’m glad you like it, but I don’t know whether it will be staying or not. Eeeegad, clean lines and ordered look…then it’s definitely not the real me! I need a little creative chaos to keep me energized. And I miss my earth tones. :(

I wish you and your family a Happy Easter as well. I’ll come over to visit later to see what you’re up to!

    Hi Gabrielle!
I have been trying to start a new site and deleted Blogger in the attempt.
Here is the new URL ..if you care to visit.

    To Love and To Pray
    http://teresaanawim.stblogs.com/
You may find the material repetative as that is what has been on my heart and mind recently, but I do hope you will visit. Also, note the new email addy.
Is your’s the same as the previous prayer basket address?
It seems like it is taking forever to get this to where I feel comfortable..I am learning as I go along:tweeking this and tweeking that..LOL!
You will find an attempt to revive the old Kissing the face of God blog over here…I am in the process of trying to delete that.
    Please drop by.

Hi teresa! I just visited you a little while ago, because I saw excerpts from your new blog appear on my dashboard here! Congratulations on your move, and don’t worry a bit about being repetitive; I often go back and reread your posts anyway, because there is so much in the material to absorb.

Ukok, teresa and everyone, just after I left my first response to ukok here, Lee Anderson of St. Blog’s switched my template for me to the one I really wanted, and migrated my posts. I am absolutely thrilled, and now really feel at home! And yes, my email is the same as before, but I’m still figuring things out here too, so if anyone doesn’t know it, it’s contemplative haven at hotmail dot com (no spaces).

    Continuing to enjoy your blog.

I have book Sister Josefa Menendez: The Way of Divine Love. Bought it via eBay shortly after being received into the CC Jan 05. It wasn’t ready for it. I imagine I am still not. No matter. I keep books and like particular devotions books find me when the time is right.

I’ve experienced the same thing many times, Owen. Some lives/voices speak to us always, some later, some never. I have a special love for Sr. Josefa, going back many years.

Oh my goodness.. I have occsionally quoted Sr. Josefa.
:-) Synchronicity, is it? I’m guessing you are familiar with Theresa Neumann as well? (Hmm.. did we have this conversation already? lol) The first time I read a little pamphlet of Sr. Josefa, I’d thought Jesus sounded a bit mean.. I must find it again, and re-read, to see how changed my heart might be.. i hope.

No, I know what you mean, Littlestorms, and I’ve had the same reaction to parts of it. But I’ve come to view it in a different light more recently. You know how bloggers have discussed the fact that our voices in the combox can be misinterpreted because no one can see our facial expressions or the twinkle in our eye? When Jesus says something to Sr. Josefa like (paraphrasing here) “If I could have found anyone more useless and wretched than you I would have chosen her”, formerly I was upset by that, but now I can imagine Him saying it tenderly, with a gentle smile on his face, or in the way that one familiarly teases one’s own child, or when you have a standing joke between you.
